Supergirl 2.22 ‘Nevertheless, She Persisted’

Oh my Zod! We did it! This is it for season two of Supergirl and wow was this one chock-full of heroic goodness. As the Daxamite threat intensified, we were all waiting with baited breath as to why Superman attacked his cousin. Those of us who are savvy in this universe could rest assured that Queen Rhea was somehow influencing the Man of Steel, whether it be by magic or a form of kryptonite. While the reasoning was cleared up right in the beginning of the episode (thankfully), that was…

SUPERGIRL 2.15 “EXODUS” TOP 5

This episode came out of nowhere to be one of my favorites of this season. It had great action, solid storytelling, character development, standout moments and another exciting cliffhanger for next week. True, there is a strong argument that the episode’s cliffhanger was more exciting as a fanboy and who was in it as opposed to the plot. Regardless Supergirl succeeds in making me look forward to Mondays. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, there is plenty to dive into for this week, including more Dean Cain, uncomfortable timely references…

Supergirl 2.02 “The Last Children of Krypton” Top 5

Supergirl continues it’s second season with “The Last Children of Krypton”. Honestly, they didn’t even need to give me a synopsis or pictures to get me hyped for this episode. That title is quite enough. Even knowing that both Cat and Clark would be departing tonight couldn’t keep me from bouncing up and down as I prepped this Top 5. More on how those things broke my face later. For now, I want to mention that Supergirl smashed an 8 year CW Network record last week with it’s season 2…

Supergirl 2.01 “The Adventures of Supergirl” Top 5

When the world is kind of falling apart, hope is what bonds us together. Through the fear, anger, and despair that can come with day to day life, hope keeps us alive. Hope that things will get better, hope that you can make a difference, hope that you can make it through whatever it is that may be getting you down that the time. No matter what you hope for, having that hope inspires and drives. It’s that hope that makes the ‘S’ that Supergirl (and her cousin) wears so…

Supergirl Finale “Better Angels” Top 5

I have raved about Supergirl nearly every episode Top 5 since the pilot, and I’m happy to say that the finale is no different.  I spent much of this episode crying happy tears.  Tears of hope.  Through little hiccups, and some rough action scenes in the beginning, the show has blossomed into a full blown, alien filled, superhero show, and if this was the end, I’m thankful for what we got.  Here were my Top 5 moments of what I hope was not the final episode of my favorite new…

Supergirl 1.19 “Myriad” Top 5

Supergirl has inspired from episode 1.  Here we are on episode 19, and they’re still following their trend, and that’s exactly what someone wearing the ‘S’ on their chest is supposed to do.  ‘Myriad’ was an action packed lead in for their season finale, which, frankly, I’m not even remotely ready for. 5.) That one time we got to see Superman… almost.  I love that they’ve kept Kal out of the mix, and I love that it’s all been on Kara, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t super bummed when…

Supergirl 1.16 “Manhunter” Top 5

Supergirl spent a lot of time in flashback mode this week, and if you’ve heard me talk about them, you know I am not a fan.  With that being said, the writers seemed to do it right, and it was definitely awesome to get a glimpse of J’onn’s previous life while here on Earth.  Here are my Top 5 Moments! 5.)  Tsk, tsk, tsk.  Siobhan.  Kara at least had a biochemical messing with her brains, you’re just genuinely awful, and you got what was coming, which is a sassy Cat…

Supergirl 1.15 “Solitude” Top 5

Today’s Superman’s birthday, did you know?  Though it may have been unintentional, ‘Solitude’ was a solid nod to what he stands for.  There were quite a few delightful moments to choose from tonight!  So many, in fact, that I had to change up this Top 5 several times. Team Supergirl showed that they were better together, tonight.  Here are my favorite moments! 5.) Fortress of Solitude. Fortress of Solitude. Fortress. Of. Solitude. I mean, do I really have to explain here? THEY WERE IN THE FREAKING FORTRESS, OKAY?! 4.) The…

Supergirl 1.13 “The Girl That Was” Top 5

Supergirl has its issues, whether that be with the show itself, or the fact that it’s running in the same time slot as the X Files, but it makes up for that in spades with its truth to that S symbol.  The writers capture what it means to be a member of the House of El in such a pure way, and tonight was no exception.  Here are my Top 5 moments!  Let us know yours in the comments! 5.) Part of my love for Supergirl is that there are…

Supergirl 1.03 “Fight or Flight” Review

“It’s about saving all of the people!” Is it weird to open up a Supergirl review with a line from Supernatural? Well, tough cookies, because here we are. ‘Fight or Flight’ brought viewers to the realization that it’s not just going to be aliens that Kara is facing. This is a world where all sorts of unfortunate circumstances can lead to all kinds of angry villains. We saw that this evening in Reactron. The world of a hero is so rarely black and white, and when it comes to jurisdiction,…

Supergirl 1.02 “Stronger Together” Review

The second episode in the long awaited Supergirl series moved us into the growing pains stages of being a hero. Not only did Kara have to deal with the fact that she is going to make mistakes, but she also got the harsh lesson that no matter how much good you do, there will always be critics. It was nice to see the writers move in this direction quickly. While these won’t be the only struggles Kara faces as Supergirl, it’s good to move past the honeymoon stage quickly instead…

Supergirl 1.01 “Supergirl” Review

Going into this pilot, I had expected to get a little misty. As I’ve mentioned from time to time, I have strong emotional reactions to things I find meaningful or important. I didn’t get misty in this episode. No, there were several moments in the first glimpse of Supergirl that left me with tears streaming down my face. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves though. A smart first move was to not spend too much time on Kara’s origin story. The writers got folks who aren’t familiar with the mythos…
